Great Barrier Reef Tour

The Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral reef system in the world.  Stretching for over 2,600 kilometres the Great Barrier Reef is located in the Coral Sea, off the coast of Queensland, Australia. One of the biggest drawcards for the Cairns region, a trip out to the Great Barrier Reef is a once in a lifetime opportunity. With boats leaving the Reef Fleet Terminal from Cairns City Port at 1030am, this is the perfect opportunity to experience the best of both worlds, the sky & the reef! Start your day with the amazing feeling of hot air ballooning over the Cairns Highlands followed by the adventure of the great barrier reef with Great Adventures reef cruises.  Your tour includes hot air ballooning, morning & afternoon teas, Outer Barrier Reef platform, snorkelling equipment, hot & cold buffet lunch, eco reef talk, semi-submersible coral viewing & underwater observatory.

Your Itinerary

05.00am (approx)
Door to door transfers Pick-up at hotel by a Hot Air coach for your special package tour, one hour transfer, pickup times confirmed on booking.
05.30am
Experience the fun & unique sensation of hot air ballooning in the Atherton Tablelands, Australia. Enjoy the picturesque landscape at sunrise and your 30 minute hot air balloon ride where you can really breathe in the wide-open spaces! We have Australia’s largest fleet of balloons and a fun and highly trained crew to ensure you maximise the fun of your morning ballooning with Hot Air.

Keep an eye out for wallabies, kangaroos and other local wildlife, seeing them from high in a hot air balloon, is something you’ll never forget.
08.00am
Return and Landing, balloon pack-up games and lots of laughs.
9.30am
After hot air ballooning, your coach transfer takes you to the Cairns Reef Fleet Terminal, please look for the Great Adventures check-in counter. Boarding is at 10.10am.
10.30am
Depart Reef Fleet Terminal for the Outer Barrier Reef platform. On the way you can enjoy morning tea as well as seeing a reef presentation and snorkelling demonstration.
12.30pm
Arrive at the Outer Barrier Reef platform. Choose your reef activities including semi-submersible coral viewing, Snorkelling directly from the platform, underwater observatory for coral and fish viewing. Other prebooked activities are also available including helicopter, diving & scuba-doo.
1pm-2.30pm
Enjoy a delicious hot & cold buffet lunch including tea & coffee. More free time to enjoy the great barrier reef.
3.45pm-5.30pm
Return back to the Cairns Reef Fleet Terminal via Green Island. Enjoy afternoon tea along the way. Then your transfer back to your accommodation.
